The implementation of the Procurement Act 2023 has been delayed until February 24, 2025, to allow time for the publication of technical guidance and the creation of a new National Procurement Policy Statement (NPPS). Initially set for October 28, 2024, the delay aims to ensure the legislation is thoroughly prepared, as it represents the most significant change to public procurement regulations in a generation. The sector has broadly welcomed the postponement, with stakeholders appreciating the additional time to familiarise themselves with the new regime and prepare for its requirements. The act promises increased transparency and accountability in procurement processes, including the publication of all procurement notices on a new central digital platform and the measurement of supplier performance for contracts over £5 million.
