Social landlords in Scotland will now be able to access public funding to remove unsafe cladding, following changes to the Scottish Government’s Cladding Remediation Programme. Until now, funding had only been available to private owners, a decision previously criticised by the Scottish Federation of Housing Associations (SFHA). Housing associations and co-operatives that have received a government-funded Single Building Assessment (SBA) can apply for money to cover repair costs. The government has doubled the SBA fund to £20m, ensuring every application submitted before the end of 2025 can move forward, and announced a further £10m to speed up fire alarm installation in multi-owner private blocks with cladding.
